How thick are your medallions, stone rugs, border tiles, and accent tiles?

Natural stone (marble, granite, travertine, and limestone) products are cut from 3/8" thick tiles resulting in a completed product that is also 3/8" thick.  Porcelain  (polished and unpolished, and textured) products are cut from approximately 1/4" thick tiles resulting in a completed product that is also 1/4" thick.  These thickness are standard thickness for most natural stone field tiles (3/8") and porcelain and ceramic (1/4") making our products easy to height match with surrounding floor.  You can also mix and match materials of different thicknesses.

Do you offer other sizes or custom medallions?

We can custom size any of our medallion designs.  Phone or email us with your requirements and we will quote you a price.  We also do custom designs that can be created from our standard material or material that your specify.  See our Custom Work page for more details.

Are your medallions and stone rugs difficult to install?

Installing our medallions and stone rugs are as easy as installing floor tiles.  The same floor preparations required for installing a marble, granite, porcelain, or ceramic floor are required for installing our medallions.  Our medallions and stone rugs ship to you in easy to handle sections.  Simply apply the floor adhesive, then set the numbered sections in place to complete the medallion.

Some of our medallions are circular, and some find it difficult to make the curve cuts in the tile used to surround the medallion.  For the do-it-yourselfer, a little practice is required before good curve cuts can be made.  However, if you want to save yourself or your installer from having to make these cuts, or if you want precision water-jet cut tiles to surround your medallion, you can order our Surround Tiles.

Why ship in sections?

We ship our medallions and stone rugs in section both for ease of shipping and for ease of handling during installation.  Once installed, it is impossible to tell it was shipped in sections.

Are your products pre-grouted?

No.  There is no grout in the space between the natural stone or porcelain shapes in our medallions, stone rugs, border tiles, or accent tiles.  Once installed, you can apply any color of grout you wish, however, it should be grout appropriate for the material your product is created from.  Using the same colored grout that is used in the surrounding floor tiles allows the product to integrate smoothly into the rest of the floor.   Note that all product images on this web site show our products with a grey colored grout.

How much space is there in the medallion grout joints?

All of our medallions and other products have a grout spacing of approximately 1/16" between shapes.

Are the medallions sealed?

No.  We do not seal our medallions or any of our other products.

What sort of maintenance is required?

Maintenance required for our medallions is the same as maintenance required for the material your medallion is create from.  This includes routine wiping down with a damp cloth to keep clean of any debris that may scratch the surface.  As with most marble and granite floors, they can be re-polished if the surface becomes dulled or scratched.

What if a piece is broken during shipment?

It is very rare that is piece is broken during shipment, however, if there is damage we will immediately replace the broken piece.  Simply let us know which piece is damaged and we will ship you a replacement piece as soon as possible.

What if a piece is broken during installation?

If a piece is broken during installation, let us know which piece is damaged and we will ship you a replacement piece as soon as possible.  If the piece is damaged while it has already been set in the floor adhesive, it is best to wait for the floor adhesive to dry, then chisel out the damaged piece.  With the damaged piece removed, you can install the replacement piece.

What if I don't like the medallion once I receive it?

If you are unsatisfied with your medallion for any reason, you can return it provided certain conditions are met.  Please refer to our Return Policy for details.

Can I mix material types when using your Color Configurator?

Yes.  Materials can be mixed to achieve the look you want!

Why do you need to know the grout spacing of the surround tiles?

The grout spacing of the tiles does slightly affect the radius of the cuts applied.
